Orienteering workshop “Get around in space, find a nest”

Within the Days of European heritage, a creative workshop “Get around in space, find a nest”, prepared by Sonja Srejić, took place on September 14th 2010 at 10 a.m. at Kalemegdan. The participants were students from special elementary schools for children with special needs: E.S. “Miloje Pavlović” – team “Storks” and E.S. “Boško Buha” – team “Owls”, as well as 18 colleagues from the Museum. The first place was won by team “Storks” who were best in orienteering.

Art Workshop “Beautiful bird”

On Saturday mornings in August and September art workshops “Beautiful bird” will be organized at the Gallery of Natural History Museum at Kalemegdan. The author of the creative workshop is curator Dragana Vučićević, and the theme is connected with the ongoing exhibition Sky hunters. The workshop is intended both for children and adult visitors, and it is possible to sketch the exhibited birds, draw caricatures and make comic strips based on exhibited specimens of birds of prey. Report from the summer workshop in Spanish language

The Summer Workshop in Spanish language, in cooperation with Hispanic Culture Association – Methodological Section, was organized on Sunday, June 13th 2010 at 12:00 noon in the Gallery of Natural History Museum at Kalemegdan.

The very warm day did not prevent children (5-10 years of age) to participate in the workshop, draw, socialize and learn Spanish names of animals inhabiting Serbia, Spain and Latin America. Children have also visited the present exhibition at the Museum “Sky hunters” and chosen their favorite bird of prey. The moderator of the workshop was Aleksandra Savić, employee of the Museum.

This is the fourth workshop successfully realized in cooperation of Natural History Museum and Hispanic Culture Association.

Theme: animal world of Serbia, Spain and Latin America.
This workshop is adapted to children of age 5-10.
Learning through interactive activities and play.

Birds of prey are good birds too

Interested students from 7th grade to sophomore year in high school and other visitors of exhibition “Sky hunters” may apply to participate in this workshop that resembles a trivia quiz.
After they have visited the exhibition, the participants get handouts with names of birds, where they should enter if it is a bird of prey, whether it is a resident or a migratory bird, its diet etc.
In a very short time the visitors are able to check their knowledge on birds of prey, their habitats and way of life.

Onomatopoeia of birds

Within the exhibition “Sky hunters”, at the Gallery of Natural History Museum, Mali Kalemegdan 5, the creative workshop “Onomatopoeia of birds” will include the youngest visitors and children with special needs. The participants of the workshop will imitate the bird sounds and sing the familiar children’s songs with the help of onomatopoeia. Through play the children will be introduced to bird sounds, develop their creativity and senses. The workshop will be scheduled Tue-Fri, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.

Heavenly Hunters

In cooperation with Prof. Branka Kuzmanović, students of freshman and sophomore year of Faculty of applied arts at Belgrade University (Department of Textile) have participated in the workshop “Sky hunters” on April 14th 2010. This was an open class of painting the specimens from Collection of Birds, with the goal to find the idea solution for design of T-shirts and the logo during the exhibition.

March workshop of Spanish language on topic of Carnivals

On Sunday, March 7th 2010, at 12:00 noon, the March workshop of Spanish language on topic of Carnivals was organized at Impuls Hall at Novi Beograd. This workshop was organized in cooperation with the Methodological Section of the Hispanic Culture Association. Participants of this workshop were 22 children (ages 5-10), who had an opportunity to socialize, dance in rhythm of Latin America, draw dinosaurs, learn names of animals in Spanish and participate in traditional breaking of piñatas full of candy with help of wooden spoons. This program was realized within the topic of promoting the culture of Latin America, within the exhibition “Dinosaurs of Argentina – Giants of Patagonia”.



Creative workshop Sparks and sparkles

The creative workshop “Sparks and sparkles” for our youngest visitors and children with special needs will be organized within the exhibition “And there was light” at the Gallery of Natural History Museum, Mali Kalemegdan 5, in period March 2nd – April 25th 2010. The participants of the workshop will learn through play, about colors, shapes and names of minerals. The workshop will take place every day Tuesday-Friday between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
